Karen Hamilton-Smith is a Wellington artist who paints in a slightly quirky and abstracted style, weaving allegoric elements through richly layered patinas. Her style is described as bold and warm.
Her themes span a wide gamut – from fresh, memory-evoking seascapes; nostalgic objects of old; the powerful and summoning world of music; and families of small paintings which breathe and tell stories in our lives.
Karen Hamilton-Smith has exhibited for over fifteen years. Her work is held by corporate and private art collections in New Zealand and overseas. This year she was thrilled that her work was selected for the 2021 NZ Art Calendar.
