Karen’s work is often inspired by wild places she has been to in nature, or of the heart and mind.
Her earliest works were 2D totems exploring her feelings about land, culture and humanity. These were followed by explorations of diaspora, climate change, Parihaka, other interests and occasional botanicals.
Karen has been painting consistently for four years. Her work has been shown in galleries and exhibition spaces in Hawkes Bay and at Kina Gallery, New Plymouth.
In 2019 Karen had solo exhibitions at Kina NZ Design + Artspace Gallery New Plymouth, and Edges Art and Framing Havelock North. Previously she was the featured artist at Viva Ahuriri, and exhibited at Tennyson Gallery Napier.
Three works shown here are from late 2018, and Invasion is from 2016.
